The Artist

About the Artist

Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Ka-Son grew up cultivating his natural artistic ability by watching the creative process of his father (a portrait artist) and eldest brother (a pioneering Graffiti artist). Having received no formal art training, they instead became his artistic teachers and technical advisors. His work can be seen as a visual nod to what he sees as the art found in our every day experiences. Those moments—whether of beauty, of pain and struggle, or of joy—are moments that universally connect us as human beings. That’s where the art is.

Ka-Son’s paintings have won numerous awards and have been featured in local and regional newspapers, magazines, and television. His work has also been used as cover art for books and music albums. He’s participated in many group and solo gallery exhibitions, as well as serving as co-curator of 1199SEIU Gallery, and director of ARTSPACE Gallery in Stroudsburg, PA. Most recently his work has been exhibited at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art, as well as Norfolk Botanical Garden’s Diversity Gallery. He’s currently working on a series of paintings that explore his passion for fatherhood—what he considers “a love letter to my children.”
